DO NOT MISS

  • Meeting of Waters: The Rio Amazonas is formed from the Rio Negro e Solimões, and the meeting of their waters creates a wonderful spectacle. The phenomenon occurs due to differences in the density, temperature
    and velocity of the two water courses.
  • Amazonas Theater – Built in an eclectic style with neo-classical and Greco-Roman influences, the ‘Teatro Amazonas’ is a symbol of the golden age of the rubber industry, and is the official home of the Orquestra
    Sinfônica do Estado da Amazonas. A walk through the interior is like stepping back in time to the days when Manaus was one of the most developed and modern cities in Latin America;
  • Gastronomy: The great abundance of fish in the Amazônia – there are more than two thousand species – makes it the most widely used ingredient in local cuisine. Boiled, fried or baked, tambaqui, pirarucu, tucunaré and jaraqui are always on the menu, duly accompanied by cassava or tucupi (a sauce made from madioc). Regional fruits such as pitomba, tucumã and cupuaçu provide natural color and flavor for dessert.
